I started taking notes on my iPad 7 and first-generation Apple Pencil the end of my senior year of high school. Since starting college I have found that it is super easy and helpful to take them digitally. I use the app Good Notes 5 to create notebooks and folders based on my classes.
Digital notes allow me to add diagrams to my notes with ease and include lecture slides and my E-Textbooks in the same spot as my notes. Getting used to writing on an iPad had its challenges due to how unnatural it felt in the beginning but after some practice and learning what style of notes I wanted to create it has gotten easier. For me personally digital notes have helped me focus on class while taking them and have given me easy ways to study. I also use the app to create weekly To-Do lists, so I do not miss any assignment due dates or meetings. It allows me to have multiple tabs open in the app so I can easily flip from my To-Do list, assignments. lecture slides, and E-Textbooks.
Since the notes are digitally it is easy to erase mistakes or click the undo/redo button to change how the notes look. The digital aspect also allows me to rearrange my notes without having to rewrite them out which has helped me create a better flow in my notes for studying. I use Good Notes 5 because my notes sync to all my devices that have the app downloaded which makes studying on the go easy. No matter where I go, I always have my notes, lecture slides, and textbooks on me because they sync to my phone and do not need internet to access them once they are saved.
Switching to digital notes has helped me focus in class and study for quizzes and exams because of how easy it is for me to access my notes. Personally, I never leave my phone anywhere so now I always have my notes and textbooks with me if I need to study.
