WE Local 23

The Society of Women Engineers Local Conference (WE Local 23) took place in Detroit, MI February 17th and 18th!

This years theme was “A World of Opportunities Awaits”

The conference featured three amazing keynote sessions, tons of breakout sessions, and a career fair! There were over 720 attendees in all stages of their engineering career from college to retirement! As a collegiate chapter we were able to connect with other collegiate chapters from the midwest and share ideas!

Courtney - This was my second time attending WELocal and I had a great time! As chapter president I was able to meet and discuss ideas with other chapter presidents from the midwest. I also had the opportunity to talk to several engineering professors from other universities and women farther in their engineering journey and hear their experiences and advice.

Vanessa - I have never been to any local or national SWE conference. WELocal Detroit has been one of the best opportunities. It was a very inspiring and empowering conference. I think the best part was making connections with these other women who are currently on track to become an engineer or have experience. I enjoy hearing the stories and advice everyone had to give each other. If you have a chance to go you should definitely go.

Elizabeth - WELocal Detroit was my first SWE conference that I have gone to. It was an amazing experience overall and I really appreciate the opportunity going. It was inspiring to see so many women engineers and to hear so many different experiences and perspectives they have had in their respective fields. I met many new women engineers from different universities throughout the Midwest.
