Despite all the chaos going on around us, we should always remember there is more to life than "hitting the books." Self care is a key principle to staying positive. It does not need to be expensive or complicated, it just has to be consistent. Keeping it simple is for your well being.
I would like to share my experiences with self care and what has been helping me through this pandemic. I worked for an extremely skilled esthetician for four years and she taught me the importance of maintaining a great skincare routine. Taking twenty minutes out of your day will help you look and feel revived in the long run. Did you know the leading cause to skin damage is the sun? Think about that and how often you actually think about protecting your skin rather than just getting a nice tan.
Morning Routine:
1) Facewash/Cleanser- https://www.cetaphil.com/us/product/gentle-skin-cleanser
2) Facial Toner- Helps to remove excessive dirt and oil; also balancing pH of your skin. Using pure rosewater is also great for toning your face. https://www.target.com/p/thayers-witch-hazel-astringent-with-aloe-vera-original-12-oz/-/A-51091258
3) Hyaluronic Acid Serum- This serum hydrates your skin and minimizes fine lines. Never too early to start using anti-aging products. I prefer The Asterwood Natural, Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which you can find on Amazon.
4) Eye Cream- Helps reduce or even remove signs of aging. The skin around our eyes is the most delicate skin on our face, you should keep it moisturized at all times.
5) Face Moisturizer - Not only does this help prevent dryness, it also helps your skin stay young! https://www.target.com/p/cetaphil-daily-facial-moisturizer-spf-15-unscented-4oz/-/A-13389372
6) SPF- SPF is the most important part of your morning routine. It could be a cloudy day with absolutely no sun in sight and you should still wear SPF. Various moisturizers and make up products already have a small amount of SPF in them. However, the AAD recommends using SPF 30 for day to day activities and SPF 50 for outdoor activities.
Night Routine:
1) Facewash/Cleanser
2) Facial Toner
3) Vitamin C Serum- Helps restore your skin from the sun its been exposed to during the day. It also helps with reducing scars, spots and other hyperpigmentation. Personally, applying Vitamin C is only in my night routine because it can darken your skin if in exposed to too much sun. Asterwood Natural, also sells a great Vitamin C serum on Amazon
4) Hyaluronic Acid Serum
5) Eye Cream
6) Face Moisturizer
I hope reading through this post gave you a little insight of how important skin care is. If you want to get fancier and spend a little more for products visit https://www.serenityskinstudio.com/ and they could have products delivered to your door.
